As a leading provider of high-quality computing devices, Apple continues to innovate and improve its product offerings. According to reliable sources, the company is planning to release new and updated products in the second half of 2023.
M3 Processor
Industry experts believe the M3 chips will be based on an all-new 3nm process. According to TSMC's claims, the smaller chip design will deliver a significant leap in performance (roughly 15 percent) while consuming less power (roughly 30 percent) as compared to the current generation.
Tech analysts, such as Ming-Chi Kuo, are positive about the possibility that Apple's M3 chip could become the most advanced 3nm processor in the world. According to him, the M3 chip may have up to four dies, which would allow it to support up to 40 compute cores. This would likely result in a significant improvement in performance and battery life, surpassing anything that users may have previously experienced with the M1 and M2 devices.
Updated iMac
The current iMac was released in 2021 with the then new Apple M1 silicon. Not a bad performer with 7 exterior color choices, 4.5K Retina display, up to 16GB unified memory, 1080p FaceTime HD camera with M1 ISP, Magic Keyboard with Touch ID, and up to 2TB of storage.
The question becomes is Apple working on a new iMac, how big is the screen, and when is it coming out? The answer according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman is Apple will release one or more updated iMacs in the coming months. It is expected much of the design language will remain including the 24-inch screen. It is expected the update will include the new M3 and will likely be released in the early fall.
This renewed emphasis on the 24-inch iMac sends a message that a larger version of this product is very unlikely. Apple may feel users with a need for a larger screen should select the Mac Studio.
MacBook Air
It is rumored Apple is working on a new 15-inch Macbook Air. This would be the first model of that size in the MacBook Air’s 14-year history. An update to the 13-inch MacBook Air is also planned. It is unclear if either of these will include the M3. However, if Apple were to adhere to last year’s schedule, we could see an M3 chip alongside a new 15-inch MacBook Air and an updated 13-inch model at WWDC 2023 in June.
Mac Pro
A Mac Pro equipped with Apple silicon seems to be on the horizon, and there is much speculation about what processor Apple will use. The prevailing opinion is that the Mac Pro will come with the M2 Ultra, which boasts up to 24 CPU cores, 76 graphics cores, and a maximum memory capacity of 192 gigabytes.
